Glitter Tattoos Outlast Dirty Girls Mud Run

Glitter tattoos are a great option for team marathons! They are waterproof and can outlast sweat, water, mud and obstacle courses. Your team can pick a design and I will order enough for the number of people racing. It is a lot of fun creating a theme for your team!

Before

Before the race began.

I had the privilege of helping my friends with designing their team t-shirts and giving them team glitter tattoos for the Dirty Girl Mud Run obstacle course. Glitter tattoos usually last 3-5 days under normal circumstances. These were put to the ultimate test! I applied the tattoos 1-2 days ahead of the race so they could all have them ready for the early start of the run that day. So the tattoos were already 2-3 days old when they started the race.

They ran, then sloshed through deep, thick, heavy mud pits (sometimes crawling in mud under nets on their bellies) and climbed over obstacles. They finished the race covered in mud from head to toe!

The fire hose spray down.

After the race the organizers sprayed the teams down with a fire hose to get the thick layer of mud off. The glitter tattoos passed the test and surpassed the test! They looked just as good as when the girls started the race (the t-shirts not so much). No glitter was lost! I was really impressed and surprised that they (the tattoos) survived that grueling course. My friends also survived the run (one of whom also recently completed surgery and chemo for breast cancer - amazing!) and had a blast!

Face Paint for Halloween Costumes

Try a little face painting to give your costume that extra pizazz! Glam up your vampire or devil costume with cosmetic glitter for eye shadow. Forest fairies will look magical with glittery, vibrant floral eye designs.Your witch or warlock will frightfully awesome with instant aged, wicked looking faces (nobody will recognize you)! Your cat (tiger, leopard, etc) costume will look even better with a glamorous cat face. Zombies and monsters are always a favorite for face painting.

If you choose to paint yourself, always use FDA approved face and cosmetic based paint make-up for your costume. Never use any other paint on your skin as severe reactions can occur. You can purchase some basic face paint kits at hobby stores. Usually hobby stores only carry basic colors and that's where it can be beneficial to book a professional face painter. I carry many colors and types of face paint make-up to choose from. I have metallic, UV paints for ultra-violet lights and vibrant colors that are not available in stores. I also have jewels, glitter gels and glitter powder for extra bling!

I can also collaborate with your ideas for your costume. Slots for Oct 26th and 27th are already filling up for costume make-up. It’s already time to start thinking about Halloween!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Glitter tattoos are the latest in body art when the summer heats up in Denver! Great for a pool party (or any type of party outdoor activity) as they last longer than face painting. When water is involved in your activity glitter tattoos provide a waterproof alternative to face painting. They can last from 3-6 days and I have 25 awesome designs to choose from! Kids love that they last a long time!
I prepare the skin by wiping with alcohol to wipe any dirt or lotion off. Then using specially made cosmetic glitter glue I paint over the stencil (I can also freehand glue designs). I’ll blend different colors of the many glitter colors to choose from for the “wow” effect. Glitters are cosmetic grade only that are safe for skin.
Some important things to remember about glitter tattoos:
  1. Glitter tattoo is 100% toxic free and safe for skin.
  2. It lasts anywhere from 3 - 6 days. This depends on your skin type and maintenance.
  3. Your glitter tattoo is waterproof but it becomes weak when subjected to prolonged time in water (swimming or taking a bath), so afterward pat dry the area and don’t scrub or scratch with a towel (friction shortens the lifespan of your tattoo).
  4. Never apply alcohol based oil or lotion in the area of your glitter tattoo.
  5. Should you wish to remove your glitter tattoo simply use alcohol swabs, baby oil or lotion and let it soak for 5-10 minutes before you scrub and remove.
When booking a birthday party with Snappy Face Painting, glitter tattoos are also an option as well if children do not want their faces painted. This is offered at no additional charge.

Prenatal Belly Painting: What to Expect

World Belly Art

Are you thinking about having a prenatal belly art painting keepsake done and wondering about what to expect during the session? It is an easy, fun and a creative way to express yourself. Prenatal Belly painting is a wonderful way to celebrate pregnancy. As a face painter I usually paint at parties, but prenatal painting is a new and creative way to have a pregnancy keepsake.

The Design Process
I have many designs I have created and I can also collaborate and create a design with your ideas. We will discuss about the type of design you would like and we will go over the color scheme and layout. I will provide sketches for your approval before the painting begins. There are many creative ideas which can be painted. One mom always thought of her pregnancy as feeling like a little whale was moving in an ocean, so she wanted an underwater ocean scene. Another scheduled a painting session right after her ultrasound that day and I painted "Its a boy!" with a little boy football player (in Denver Broncos colors of course). on her belly so she could use the picture to announce on Facebook and phone messaging. Still another mother did a lot of traveling and wanted the world painted on her belly. You can be as creative as you want! Designs can be serious art, funny or cute. It is so much fun bringing an original design together with parents.

Tips to Prepare for Paint Session
Shower well before being painted, ideally an hour or two before the session as the natural body oils and sweat can interfere with body paints, making them less able to stick to the skin. Clean natural skin is the goal for painting. Also don't apply moisturizer or makeup or any other body care product after you shower. These can also interfere with the paint. Wear loose clothing and a sports bra. Loose clothing like oversized t-shirt or a front button blouse with a sports bra, peasant skirts or yoga pants (or any other stretch material) keeps the design from rubbing too much.

What to Bring to a Paint Session
You can also bring another change of clothing and props (such as necklaces, earrings, skirts etc.) for the photo session afterwards. You (or your husband, if he wishes to participate) can also bring a camera. I will take digital pictures with my camera and provide digitally enhanced photos. But you may want to get some pictures of yourself with your own camera. I will spray the finished product to help hold the image if you want to photograph yourself later at another location (I live very close to Red Rocks Amphitheater for example). Bring a towel or sheet to cover your car seat on the ride home. The paint can and does rub off. Upholstery can be difficult to clean.
The Paint Session and Photography
My canvas is always moving so it is a delight to paint. Your baby sometimes will get very active while I make brush strokes. During the paint session drinks and snacks are provided to you. I have a chaise lounge with pillows for you to relax and be comfortable while being painted (pregnant moms should always be comfortable). I play music (your choice of music) and an eye pillow is provided if wanted (some moms just like to watch me paint). I let you take breaks and stretch during the painting session. After painting I photograph outdoors in natural lighting and indoors with my Canon digital camera. After the shoot, I will digitally enhance the photos and provide you with the enhanced photos. I can also add birth announcement information to the photos after the baby is born. A painting session with photography included can last anywhere from 2 hours to 5 hours depending on how elaborate the design is.

Clean Up Afterwards
The paint will come off with simple soap and water. It will help to apply a lather to dry skin and then rinse. Should you have any difficulty a little bit of baby oil or makeup remover should help. However there are a few colors/paints that will stay a bit more stubbornly, red in particular. But even that should only leave a very light hue behind.
